A Story about the Easter Bunny
Several years ago, I was helping at an Easter egg hunt. Rather than dyed eggs, the children were looking for plastic eggs containing pieces of candy or a few coins. The woman organizing the event was known for her liberal use of cellophane tape. At one point, I was helping a kindergartner open up one of the eggs, and she asked me, "Why did the Easter Rabbit put so much scotch tape on these eggs?" I replied, "I guess the Easter Rabbit knows that if the eggs break open while they're still in the grass, the candy would spill out and your mom wouldn't let you eat it." She observed, "That's a smart rabbit. It must be a lady."
